Artist Bio

In 1996 Juan Samano was born in the northeast side of Houston TX. He is currently a full time student at The University of Texas at San Antonio where he is pursuing a Bachelor of FIne Arts. with a concentration in painting and a minor in art history. He will be graduating in the spring of 2020. Has displayed his art in a group show at the Main Art Gallery at UTSA, and also did pop up show at the Blue Star Art Gallery.

Artist Statement

My art is created with the medium of oil paint on canvas where I strive to paint in a realistic style. I deal with the reflection, interaction, and confrontation with the self in a contemporised fable like images that can be seen and understood in a narrative sense. I paint my settings and subjects from places and animals I’ve seen or find interesting and create a mix of them to create something new that can be the vehicle of the idea I am tackling in the piece.
